How do I request a specialist referral with Pocket Lab?
To request a specialist referral, select the service and book a secure video consultation with one of our New Zealand-registered doctors. After assessing your health needs during the consultation, the doctor will send the referral electronically to your chosen specialist, with a copy emailed to you.
What types of referrals can I get through PocketLab?
We provide referrals for specialists, diagnostic tests, imaging (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans), and more.
Can I get a radiology referral through Pocket Lab?
Yes. Our doctors can provide referrals for radiology imaging, such as X-rays and ultrasounds, when clinically appropriate. These referrals are sent electronically to you to take to your preferred imaging provider following a video consultation.
Can I choose which specialist or radiology provider I’m referred to?
Yes. If you have a preferred private provider, you can inform us during your consultation. Our doctors will aim to refer you there, depending on availability and the nature of your condition.
Are these referrals valid for insurance claims?
Yes. Referrals from Pocket Lab are issued by registered New Zealand doctors and are valid for most private insurance claims. We recommend checking with your insurer for any specific requirements.
