What is Sinus infection?
A sinus infection (sinusitis) happens when the sinuses become inflamed due to a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. This inflammation blocks normal drainage, leading to pressure, pain, and congestion. Sinus infections are common and can be triggered by colds, allergies, or environmental irritants.
There are two main types of sinusitis:
Acute Sinusitis – Short-term, often caused by viral infections like the common cold.
Chronic Sinusitis – Lasts more than 12 weeks, often linked to allergies or nasal polyps.
