About

  • The thyroid is a gland that is located at the front of your neck. It produces hormones which help control your body’s metabolism and calcium levels.

  • A Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) test is commonly used to diagnose or monitor thyroid conditions. 

  • People with an underactive thyroid gland, also known as hypothyroidism, can have the following symptoms: Tiredness, constipation, weight gain, feeling cold, irregular menstrual cycles, changes in hair and skin, as well as other symptoms.

  • People with an overactive thyroid gland, also known as hyperthyroidism, can have the following symptoms: Anxiety, tiredness, weight loss, feeling shaky, heart palpitations, feeling hot, diarrhoea, skin and hair changes, sleep difficulty, reduced menstrual cycles, changes in vision, as well as other symptoms.
